History of the GSD in the UK
The 2- DAY SHOW

The 2 day show was the premier GSD event for many years with entries exceeding 600 at its peak. During this period GSD KC registrations at times exceeded 25,000 with the German Shepherd often being the most popular breed with the highest number of registrations.
These events were held under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations with CC's and Res CC's on offer.
For breeders and exhibitors to win the CC at the 2 day show was the highest accolade to achieve in the UK. All dogs would receive an unofficial verbal grading as per the SV system, and again this was highly coveted but with the Kennel Club rules that winners of all classes compete for CC and RES CC, it was possible to gain the Challenge Certificate with a VP or SG graded dog winning the CC over a V graded dog.
It should also be noted that at this period in time ID checks were not required, health tests not required and no TSB (courage test) in a adult class. It was though very much the forerunner of the British Sieger Event, which is now held under WUSV rules and regulations with mandatory ID checks, mandatory health tests and gun test in the relevant classes and a working class featuring dogs with IGP and the Körung, an event which is sanctioned by the Royal Kennel Club.
The event was rotated by the four national clubs, GSD Club of Northern Ireland, GSD Club of Wales, GSD Club of Scotland, and the GSD League of GB.
